YOU CAN’T GET EVERYTHING FROM ONE PERSON

I listened to Melissa Ambrosini’s podcast with Carrie-Anne Moss yesterday, and I heard the sentence “realizing that you can’t get everything from one person”. This is something which I have thought about before, and when I then got recommended of this I felt like I had to share it in here – because this is such an important life lesson.

If you are in a relationship it is very easy to feel like the other person has to be EVERYTHING for you. Your best friend, your partner etc. But, as the quote so nicely puts it “you can’t get everything from one person“. Your partner will never be YOU – no one can never be hundred percent you, and this also means that you will never be able to find one single person who has the exact same interests as you, and believes in the same as you. And that is okay. Don’t go out there and try to find someone who matches you 100 % – because what is the fun in that? Then you will never be able to learn something new if you are with a person who are exactly like yourself.

Find different people for your different interests

I’ve learned that having different people for your different interests is a gift. In the beginning of my boyfriend and mines relationship I had a tendency to feel like he should be my “best friend” and that we should talk about everything – which we can, but I’ve also come to realize that we just don’t have all the same interests. This opens up for a new opportunity, because we should still exploit all our different interests – you should never hold any of your interests back. So today I’ve found friends who are interested in health, some who are interested in spirituality and others who are interested in sustainability or marketing and social medias etc.. It is the best feeling to be able to fully exploit all your different interests, if you just chose not to limit yourself. And then when I am spending time with one of my friends who is interested in sustainability but might not be interested in health, then I learn new perspectives upon life, which I might never ever had thought about myself. And I think that is so beautiful.

What I wanted to say with this blogpost was that you should not think that one person can be everything for you. Drop the expectations for what other people shall be for you – but instead just let that person be who they are and learn from them, just as well as they might learn from you.

Do you know the feeling? And have you also found different people for your different interests?

INTERESTING THINGS

Then it became Wednesday again and that means time for another round of things I have found interesting!

1. I’ve already tried Stinna’s recipe for healthy snrickersbites and I LOVE THEM! And she also has a recipe for healthy snickers balls! I think this seems like the perfect snack to bring along to university or just when I’m working, so I’m definitely going to make these very soon
2. If you didn’t already know, I have a mini project called Clean Up Copenhagen. It is about picking up trash from nature. And we are having our 2nd TRASH & TALK event Saturday 23rd of September in Amager Strandpark at 11am – please join us, you can read more about it here!
3. Last week I visited Hope bar for the first time (such a lovely place!) and I got a matcha latte. It was such a positive experience, because I have tried to make a matcha latte at home once before and that was definitely not a success. But this one was really tasty, and I’ve gotten hooked on finding a good recipe I can make at home – so please share if you have a delicious matcha latte recipe!
4. An ionizing machine is pretty high on my wishlist. After having read about living a more alkaline life, I’ve gotten completely hooked on owning such a machine
5. Maca powder is something I want to buy soon. Mac powder can help stabilize your hormone balance, which is pretty amazing. Only problem, I don’t know what to use it for? Maybe in a turmeric or matcha latte? Do you guys have any suggestions?

INTERESTING THINGS

Ikke bare er de fantastisk flotte, men der er også alverdens fordele ved at have sådan en fin én i sit hjem, læs bare her.

WRITE IT DOWN

Nej.

English:
One of the most simple, but best advice that I can give you, is to write things down.

It can be your goals and dreams, your to-do lists, or your thoughts and worries and of course what you are grateful for.

Then you might think “but is it really necessary that I write it down? Can’t I just think about it in my head?”.

No. Do you know how many thoughts run through your head every single day, and if you need to keep track of your plans, worries and to-do lists, then it will fill up your entire head and it will eventually become too much for you.

Therefore, write it down. You can either keep one notebook for everything, or separate notebooks for dreams, gratitude lists, to-do lists etc. Just make sure to empty your head and write it down.

You might know the feeling of going to sleep, but you can’t really fall asleep because you have thousand of things to remember, or you have a lot of things that worries you on your mind? Instead of lying and thinking about all of these things and not being able to fall asleep, just try to write it down and empty your head.

When it comes to goals and dreams, a study has shown that you become 42 % more likely to achieve your goals and dreams if you write them down on a regular basis. There has also been made another study showing that if you are nervous for fx an exam, then writing down your worries can actually reduce anxiety and help improve your performance on the exam

So it is a simple, yet effective tool. All you need is something to write on, or you can write it on your computer or phone if you like (but I think there is something very special and almost therapeutical about writing things down on paper).

Do you already write things down? And if you do, which things are you writing down?

FIND OUT WHAT YOU DREAM OF AND MAKE A VISION BOARD

Nej. Hvad DU gerne vil have her i livet. Nogle drømmer om store huse, andre bare 30kvm og muligheden for at rejse jorden rundt. Nogle drømmer om ferier i Marokko, mens andre drømmer om ferie i Danmark.

Du skal altså finde ud af hvad du gerne vil have her i livet.

Have you heard about vision boards? In all its simplicity it’s about finding a lot of pictures which inspire you, or pictures of things you want (experiences, travels, things etc.) in your life. After this you make a collage, either on your computer or in an old-fashioned manner with scissor, glue and paper in a physical form.

I’ve just read this Danish book written by Hella Joof and it’s amazing and so fun – one of the ‘rules’ in the book is the pizza-rule. Whenever you call and order a pizza, then you know what you want and this is what you call and order. The same rule applies for your life. You need to know what you want, before you can get it.

So sit down and first figure out what it actually is that you want in life. Not what others want you to, or what society tells you to do. No. What YOU want in this life. Some dream of big houses, others just of small places and the ability to travel the world. Some dreams of vacations in Morocco, others just of a holiday in Denmark.

You need to figure out what it is that you want in your life. Begin writing it down, and really think about it.

Afterwards you need to start finding pictures – because if you make a vision board containing your dreams, then you can look at it every single day and get reminded of what it actually is that you want in this life. Try it, it’s fun and inspirering!

On the collage you can see a little sketch of my current vision board – and then you might guess what I’m currently dreaming about!

THE GIRL FROM CLUELESS IS A VEGAN AND ENVIRONMENTALIST?

Do you remember the movie Clueless? Yeah, the movie with the blonde girl from 1995? The other day on youtube I fell over this video with the actress from that movie, Alicia Silverstone. And it turns out that Alicia is the coolest vegan and environmentalist! And she has been for years. Alicia’s work is amazing and truly inspirering! And I will definitely recommend watching this video with her.

I love finding out of big rolemodels being vegans or environmentalists, because just think about how many people they can inspire? Did you know that Ellen Degeneres, Justin Timberlake, Liam Hemsworth, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande and many more are vegans? So cool!
