Holistic & Spiritual living Inspiration

Today I want to share with you, 3 practices that have literally changed my life! The practices are so simple, yet so life changing and amazing. And if you have never tried them before, you will have so much fun trying it out and a whole new world will open up for you.

So, let’s get into these amazing practices!

The first one you will most likely be familiar with if you have followed me for just a little while, and that is: showing and feeling gratitude. I first learned about this when I read the book ‘The Secret‘* (affiliate link) for the first time back in 2012 (where I magically saw the book in a bookstore in London and bought it right away – that book has impacted my life in such a positive way, I can not recommend it enough!). Here I was introduced to the concept of showing gratitude for the things you have in your life. I learned about how I was not going to be able to get ‘more’ (things, love, money etc.) in my life, if I didn’t start to appreciate and be grateful for what I already had.

In the book there is a 30 day practice where you get a new task everyday, and one of the tasks was to write down 3 things every single day that you were grateful for. I started doing this practice, and in the beginning I had such a had time thinking about things to write, because I thought it needed to be something big, but when I learned that there are SO many things to be grateful for, then my lists became longer and longer!

You can literally be grateful for everything in your life: the air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink, buying another a present, having a home, having a job etc. Once you start paying attention to all the wonderful things you already have in your life, an abundance of things will come to you. Like attract like, and if you are grateful and show gratitude, you will only get more to be grateful for. On the other hand, if you focus on all the things you ‘lack’ in your life, then there won’t come more good things in your life.

Ps, if you think I’m just crazy, then just try google it, and you’ll quickly find out that some of the greatest people on this planet (Oprah for example) practice and believe in this as well.

Visualising & Manifesting

Visualisation is the act of imagining something which you do not have yet, and really feeling as if you already have it. Our minds are so amazing, they can imagine things which are not there yet, and we can actually feel the joy, love or whatever we want to feel without having the things which we think will bring us this emotion. The practice of visualisation is about becoming clear about what you want in life, and for this practice you can make a list (*I will cover this in the next point), or you can make a vision board.

A vision board is where you have a blank piece of paper (or you can make it on your computer), and then you find a lot of pictures, words etc. that symbolises what you want in life, and how you want to feel. That could be people smiling, pictures of the places you want to travel to, your dream apartment, words like ‘love’, ‘happiness’ etc. – exactly what YOU want in life. Then you make a nice collage, and then you look at this collage every single day and feel how it would feel to have these things in your life. Such a simple, yet very powerful practice.

I have made several vision boards over the years, and it is amazing to look back at them and see the things which have ‘come true’, or realise that your dreams might have completely changed – then you just make a new vision board which is more in alignment with your present needs, wants and desires.

Script Writing

Script writing is almost the same as vision boards, except this is about writing the things you want in life, rather than making a visual collage. A script is where you write – in present tense – what you want.

Let me explain that. You shall not write: “I want to find the love of my life”, because then you send out a signal that it is something you are still searching for, and then you will stay in the process of searching. Instead, you need to write:
“I have found the love of my life and we tell each other every single day how much we love each other”. So, you write as if you already have it. And really feel when you write and read it.

You can change your script as often as you like. Just remember to look at it often, and read it and really feel as if you already have it.

I cannot tell you the amount of things I have written down on a piece of paper that have come true in my life – just some examples; my boyfriend, our apartment, some of my friends, winning the Danish championsship in showdance with my dancing team, travelling to lots of countries, my job etc.

Some people might say that “well, that is not because of some sort of magic that these things happened to you, that is just you who made it happen“, and that might be true – but I like to believe in everyday magic, and really – does it matter? As long as it works. And seriously, no harm can happen with these practices.

At least I know that my life has become more fun, more filled with joy, happiness, love and everyday magic after having found these practices and incorporated them into my life – and my hope with this post is that you might discover something new which can change your life for the better as well.

Have you heard about these practices before? Do you practice them yourself? Or, is it the first time you learn about them? – and in that case, is it something you want to start practicing?

Nej.

One of the most simple, but best advice that I can give you, is to write things down.

It can be your goals and dreams, your to-do lists, or your thoughts and worries and of course what you are grateful for.

Then you might think “but is it really necessary that I write it down? Can’t I just think about it in my head?”.

No. Do you know how many thoughts run through your head every single day, and if you need to keep track of your plans, worries and to-do lists, then it will fill up your entire head and it will eventually become too much for you.

Therefore, write it down. You can either keep one notebook for everything, or separate notebooks for dreams, gratitude lists, to-do lists etc. Just make sure to empty your head and write it down.

You might know the feeling of going to sleep, but you can’t really fall asleep because you have thousand of things to remember, or you have a lot of things that worries you on your mind? Instead of lying and thinking about all of these things and not being able to fall asleep, just try to write it down and empty your head.

When it comes to goals and dreams, a study has shown that you become 42 % more likely to achieve your goals and dreams if you write them down on a regular basis. There has also been made another study showing that if you are nervous for fx an exam, then writing down your worries can actually reduce anxiety and help improve your performance on the exam

So it is a simple, yet effective tool. All you need is something to write on, or you can write it on your computer or phone if you like (but I think there is something very special and almost therapeutical about writing things down on paper).

Do you already write things down? And if you do, which things are you writing down?

Happiness Inspiration Sustainable & Conscious living

Nej. Hvad DU gerne vil have her i livet. Nogle drømmer om store huse, andre bare 30kvm og muligheden for at rejse jorden rundt. Nogle drømmer om ferier i Marokko, mens andre drømmer om ferie i Danmark.

Du skal altså finde ud af hvad du gerne vil have her i livet.

Have you heard about vision boards? In all its simplicity it’s about finding a lot of pictures which inspire you, or pictures of things you want (experiences, travels, things etc.) in your life. After this you make a collage, either on your computer or in an old-fashioned manner with scissor, glue and paper in a physical form.

I’ve just read this Danish book written by Hella Joof and it’s amazing and so fun – one of the ‘rules’ in the book is the pizza-rule. Whenever you call and order a pizza, then you know what you want and this is what you call and order. The same rule applies for your life. You need to know what you want, before you can get it.

So sit down and first figure out what it actually is that you want in life. Not what others want you to, or what society tells you to do. No. What YOU want in this life. Some dream of big houses, others just of small places and the ability to travel the world. Some dreams of vacations in Morocco, others just of a holiday in Denmark.

You need to figure out what it is that you want in your life. Begin writing it down, and really think about it.

Afterwards you need to start finding pictures – because if you make a vision board containing your dreams, then you can look at it every single day and get reminded of what it actually is that you want in this life. Try it, it’s fun and inspirering!

On the collage you can see a little sketch of my current vision board – and then you might guess what I’m currently dreaming about!

The Law Of Attraction

Hvad er The Law of Attraction?

Ja!

Har du selv haft nogle erfaringer med The Law of Attraction?

Ya, now it’s going to be a bit hippie-ish, but it’s just something that I’m so into. But I’ve always been very much into the magical stuff, I swallowed the Witch-magazines when I was younger and Harry Potter is, and will always be, some of my favourite books and movies! We are going to talk about The Law of Attraction.

Back in 2012 I was in London with my family, and I came across a bookstore (“came across”, more precisely I walked straight into it, because I love books and I’ve always loved spending time in bookstores, it’s one of my favourite places to look around). But, inside this bookstore I found the book ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. I picked it up, and the book just looked so magical, I was sure it was a fiction. But no, it turned out to be more of a self-help book in the more spiritual end of the spectrum. I bought it, and quickly started to read it later that evening – I was swayed away, it was amazing! The book contained lots of small things you could do each day, fx write gratitude list of the things you are grateful for every day, or go for an entire day without thinking negative thoughts about yourself.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that that book changed my entire view upon life. Before I lived a life where I thought that some things just wasn’t possible for me, but now I started to think that I could actually get what I want and achieve what I want. It’s all about changing your view upon life and the way in which you think.

What is The Law of Attraction?
The Law of Attraction is about that what you think about, you attract – whether you like it or not. It’s about whatever you have in your life now, you have attracted through your thoughts and feelings. And it is here many people think it’s too weird, especially if they have things in their life which they are not happy about. Because why on earth should you attract sickness, bad skin, parking tickets etc. into your life? Nobody wants that. No, but that is not the same as you do not think about it. Just think about how often you might think: “I do not want to be sick”. The point with the law of attraction is, that the ‘universe’ do not understand that you are saying ‘not’ in that sentence, but sees it as you are focusing on sickness. Instead of saying “I do not want to be sick” for yourself, try thinking “I love being healthy and well”. Because THAT is what you want to attract – being healthy and well. And thereby, this is what you should focus on.

The Law of Attraction is about thinking about the things that you want in your life, and feel as if you’ve already got it. You need to be able to feel the emotions that you will feel when you get what you want, in order for you to be able to receive it. And then you have to be open, as soon as doors are opening up for you. It might be that you want a new job. But, you need to take action. As soon as you see a job post which is just you – you have to take action, and actually apply for that job. It’s about being open for the opportunities that you get.

Does it work?
Yes! If you type in ‘law of attraction’ on youtube, there will come up so many videos with people telling their stories about how it has worked for them. I can remember that I wrote myself a ‘wishlist’ of things that I wanted to happen in my life. 1-2 years later I looked upon that list again, and almost all my wishes had come true. I was so overwhelmed, that it actually worked. An example was that I wrote that I wanted to win the Danish championsship together with my dancing team. I remember that before we went to the competition, I had already imagined and felt many times how it would be like to win. And then we actually won, and it was just as amazing as I had imagined it to be.

You might think that this is all too much and a bit too weird for you, but what harm can happen by trying it out? All you have to do is think about the things that you want in your life, and imagine and feel as if you already have them. Something else which can be a good practice for this, is to make a vision board. But, more about that in another blog post.

Have you had any experiences with The Law of Attraction yourself? Please leave a comment in the comment section, I love to hear about those stories.

New year, new goals, new dreams! Then it became 2017, and I spend all day yesterday on lying on my couch watching movies and sleeping. I almost never drinks, so when I do, it hits me pretty hard, and I was so tired yesterday. But, today I’m feeling a lot more fresh and I’m SO ready for the new year! I’ve big ambitions both when it comes to training and my flexibility, I want to get more out in nature, and I want to make more blog posts and videos and much more. But, although it is good to have a lot of thoughts about what you dream about – it just ain’t gonna happen, if you don’t make some realistic plan for how you actually want to achieve your goals and dreams.

I’ve through the years read and watched a lot of videos about how to achieve your goals (because I’m damn interested in those kind of things). So I thought I would share some of it, and maybe inspire some of you, to set some goals and go after them.

1. Find out what you want, and why you want it
One thing is to want something. But another thing is to figure out why you really want it? What is it that makes you want it? Will it bring you anything good in your life? Does it help you? Write down the things you want to accomplish and also write down the reasons for why you want to accomplish it. This will help you find the motivation to keep on trying to reach your goal, because you now have a specific reason for why you want to do it. For example, I want to walk and be more out in the nature. But why do I want this? This I want because, it is healthy and good for us to get some fresh air and sunshine, but also because every time I’m outside in the nature, it just fills me up with joy. Strangely enough, it can be really difficult to pull myself together and go for walks, even though it is something that I enjoy doing.

2. SMART planning
Have you ever heard about ‘SMART’ goals? SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely. When you set yourself a goal, you can use the SMART goal setting method. This you do, by thinking about that your goals should be specific. It cannot be something such as ‘I want to become better at training’, no, instead you need to say, fx, ‘ I want to train 4 times a week’. This also connects with the next point, ‘Measurable’, if you write that you want to work out 4 times a week, it is easy to keep track on if you are getting this done. Next point is achievable, here you need to think about if your goals are realistic, it’s okay to dream big, but be realistic. The next point, is connected to what I wrote above – your goals need to be relevant for you. Is this actually something you want and why do you want it? The last point is about time. Give yourself a time limit, a deadline, for when to reach your goals, because else you won’t have anything concrete to go after.

3. Break down your goals into minor goals
When you have written down your SMART goals, it is time to make it all more easy to get to action for yourself. One thing is to write ‘I want to travel to Thailand’, for example. But, it is expensive to travel to Thailand, and you won’t get there if you don’t have any money. Therefore you need to break down your bigger goal (travel to Thailand) into some minor goal, such as ‘save up 150 euros per month’. By making smaller goals, it makes it easier to take action, which will help you get closer to your bigger goal, without it getting too unrealistic and overwhelming.

4. Visualize
The next thing I have in mind to reach your goals, is to visualize. You can for example make a vision board, where you cut out pictures and words of your dreams. Look at your vision board daily, and imagine that you already have achieved your dreams and goals. This can help you keep the motivation, and help you reach your goals.

5. Take action!
The last thing that you need to do to reach your goal, is to start! Take action! Begin now, not tomorrow, but now. Make your minor goals clear, and begin.

I hope that some of you out there can use these tips to anything, and then let’s make an effort to achieve our goals and dreams! If you have any more good tricks on how to keep track on your goals and how to reach them, please write a comment in the comment section!

Happiness Health

I believe, that it is sometimes good, and healthy, to be bored. You don’t have to have a lot to do, and you don’t need to watch tv or scroll down your phone all the time etc. Especially since I’ve gotten a bit older, I can feel that I do not have that ‘boring time’ as much anymore. When you move away from home, to your own place, you always seem to have a lot to do; make homeworks, buy groceries, wash clothes, clean, make food etc. You just don’t have that ‘time when you are being bored’, as you sometimes had when you were younger, because there is always something on your mind ‘I should do this’, ‘I could also make plans with that person’ – you might know the feeling. When I was younger, there was a lot of waiting time, before dance classes, waiting for mom and dad, long car rides – there just was a lot of situations, where all you could do, was just to sit and wait.

The magical thing was, that it was often in these situations, that I’ve gotten the most amazing thoughts, ideas and dreams. Therefore I believe it’s healthy, to have some ‘boring time’, or we could call it ‘quiet time’. Some time where you just sit and think, look, reflect a little over yourself, your life, what you want to do, and who you want to be. Just some time for yourself, to just feel life – are you happy where you are? If not, then what can you do to get to where you want to be? Do you have any goals in life? Some dreams? I often think about these things, and I often write down my goals and dreams, and it brings me so much joy, to have something to go after.

All I really wanted with this post, is to make you guys take some time for yourself. Find out what makes you happy, and what you want to do in life. And then go after it!

– læse ‘Better than Before’ af Gretchen Rubin
– læse ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ af J.K. Rowling

I’m back! I’ve finally handed in my two exams (Public Relations and Social Media Management), and I’m so happy, because my school first begin once in February again, it’s crazy. I have so many things I want to do, and people I want to see etc. So it’s absolutely wonderful to have all of January free for this. I just have to work all weekend and on Monday evening, and then it’s Christmas Holiday!

But I thought I would update you guys, since I haven’t been very active in here lately. At the moment I’m dreaming about making a little mini office in our apartment. Currently I’m just sitting at our Dinning table when I make homeworks etc., which is also working fine, but I really want a little place where I can just sit and feel extra productive, and which can function as my little working space. So soon I’m going to buy a little desk (I have one in my mind), and a chair for it, and that’s it. Maybe a little candle, and my calendar by the table. Yep, I’ve been visualizing this for myself, and I think it’s going to be so good.

Now for my January plans, cause I already have a lot in my mind, and I thought I would share it with you guys, if you could find any inspiration in it:

– read ‘Better than Before’ by Gretchen Rubin
– read ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ by J.K. Rowling
– read ‘Linchpin’ by Seth Godin
(as you can see, I never get to read all my hobby books when I study, so I want to read a lot of them now)
– see Normann Copenhagen on Østerbro
– go to Glyptoteket
– visit Lousiana Museum
– see a lot of my girlfriends
– on Cousins with my mom
– in recycling stores with my friend, who just got her own apartment
– go for a lot of walks
– investigate how much a balcony would cost
– slowly begin preparing for the bachelor project

How not following Your Dreams, can keep your Passion Alive

So, I’ve had this post in my mind for a long time. But I didn’t quiet know how I should formulate myself clearly. Because the title might sound a bit demotivating and kind of a dream-killer, but trust me, I’m all in for following your dreams and passions. But, for about a month ago I read this book called Big Magic – creative living beyond fear written by Elizabeth Gilbert. And it has changed my view upon dreams.

Let me start by telling you, that ever since I was very small, I’ve always loved to write. There was nothing better than having to write stories and essays in elementary school. I completely loved to create stories. When I was 13 years old I came up with an idea for a bigger story and ever since that day, my goal and my dream has been ‘that when I get big, I’m going to become an Author’. And trust my, the dream is still alive. After high school I was so in doubt about what to do. I considered applying for the Author school here in Copenhagen and following my dream. However, I’ve always had the thought in the back of my mind ‘what if you don’t succeed, and suddenly you cannot earn any money and you cannot live’. So instead I chose to apply for Litteratur science on Copenhagen University as my first priority. However, my grades weren’t high enough, and I ended up on English and Organisation Communication at Copenhagen Business School. Which is something completely different. But, I do believe this ended up being the right thing for me.

Back to the book. Elizabeth Gilbert does not recommend that you have your creative dreams and passions as your primary job. And that is because of the simply reason that you get ‘dependent’ on creating something. You’ll become financially dependent on having to create something good all the time. And that is just physically impossible. Because creativity does not come to us all the time. And putting that kind of pressure on your creative side, that it has to be good all the time, so that you can make money out of it – might eventually kill your desire to create and be creative, and thereby kill your passion for the field.

And that I do certainly not want to end up with. I love to write, and I always have. And I never want to get to that point where it becomes annoying, or something that I just ‘have to do’. I do not write that much anymore, because I have a million other things to do. But when I write – I love it so much.

But I’m hereby not saying that I’ve given up on my dream to become an Author. It’s still there. But I see it more as an free time activity, than I’m seeing it as a full time job. I have a finished story laying around, and I’m working on getting it published. I believe that I will succeed with it eventually. And if not, that’s okay. The most important part is that I keep writing – because I like to. And that I keep creating for myself, and that I’ll always love being creative.

With all that being said, I just want to recommend everyone to read Elizabeth Gilbert’s book. It’s amazing!
