THE BENEFITS OF DRINKING GREEN TEA

I’ve been drinking Green Tea for the past 8 years ever since I once read about all the benefits of drinking Green Tea. Not only is drinking a cup of tea delicious and comforting, but it is also so beneficial for your health as well, that’s what I absolutely love about it! 🍵🌿

If you aren’t already drinking green tea, then I want to give you tons of reasons in this blogpost for why to get started with this! Green tea is filled with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body.

I have been drinking at least 1-2 cups of green tea pr. day for the past 8 years. I remember reading about the benefits of it in high school, and then I just got started on it. Nowadays, it just ain’t as good a day if my mornings doesn’t start with my cup of green tea.

My little life motto goes like this; “A cup of green tea a day, keeps the doctor away”

But let’s get into the fun part, about all the amazing benefits that this tea has!

Benefits of Drinking Green Tea

  1. Green Tea Helps Reduce Inflammation & Fight Cancer
Green Tea is rich in polyphenols, which helps to reduce inflammation in the body and can help to fight cancer
  2. Green Tea Increases Fat Burning & Improves Physical Activity
Some studies have shown green tea to increase fat burning, and caffeine itself has been shown to improve physical performance.
  3. Green Tea Can Kill Bacteria, which Improves Dental Health and Lowers Your Risk of Infection
The catechins in green tea can kill bacteria and inhibit viruses. Green tea consumption is associated with improved dental health and a lower risk of caries.
  4. Green Tea may Lower Your Risk of Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes involves having elevated blood sugar levels and being insulin resistant, or having an inability to produce insulin. Studies have shown that green tea can improve insulin sensitivity and can reduce blood sugar levels.
  5. Green Tea may Reduce Your Risk of Cardiovascular Disease
Cardiovascular Diseases include things such as heart disease and stroke. Studies have shown that green tea can improve some of the main risk factors for these kind of diseases.
  6. Green Tea can Help Reduce Signs of Ageing, it Promotes Longevity and it Helps Reduce Sun Damage
Green tea has strong antioxidants, which helps to fight inflammation. Green tea can help inhibit oxidative stress and the potential inflammation that might come from it. Green tea are also rich in an anti-ageing antioxidant, known as EGCG, which helps fight wrinkles by increasing cell turnover.

With all those health benefits I’d say; no wonder why green tea has become very popular! And if you like the taste, then I would say go drink more of this healthy tea!

I’m curious to know, have you already jumped on the Green-Tea-Wagon? Or has this post perhaps inspired you to wanting to try it out? A little tip is that some pure green tea can be a bit bitter in the taste, so if you want, then you can go for green tea with lemon, those are my personal favourites 🍵🌿

3 HERBAL TEAS FOR CLEAR SKIN

I will just start out by saying, that just beginning to drink herbal teas will of course not solve all of your skin problems. The body and mind is so much more complex than that. But if you are already eating relatively healthy, moving your body, getting enough good sleep etc. and you still want to do something extra to help your skin clear up, or just do something good for your body, then here are 3 herbal teas which can help clear your skin.

🌱Matcha / Green tea

Green tea or matcha can help reduce inflammation in the body, and can thereby help with inflamed acne or pimples.
The difference between green tea and matcha, is that green tea is just the leaves in a tea bag, whereas matcha is where the leaves have been grinded into powder, and it is thereby more powerful than green tea. Just 1/2 a teaspoon of matcha powder is equivalent to 8-10 cups of green tea.

🌱 Nettle tea

Nettle (brændenælde) helps support healthy skin because it purifies the blood and detoxifies the liver, which helps your skin clear up. Nettle is also rich in zinc, selenium and vitamins B and K. You can also try to make a stronger version, called a nettle infusion if you really want to do something for you skin! The taste of the nettle is quiet strong and not the best, so it can be recommended to make a mix with another herb, fx rooibos.

🌱 Dandelion tea

Dandelion (mælkebøtte) supports liver function and the digestive system. Both of these are essential for gaining healthy and clear skin. Dandelion contains calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and vitamins B and C.

Personal favourites!

My personal favourites are green tea, matcha lattes or a nettle/rooibos mix! Especially green tea is my forever favourite. I have been drinking several cups of green tea almost every single day for the past 5+ years, and I just love it so much!

TEA TIME – ALL TIME FAVOURITE

I thought I would share another ‘tea time’ with you, where I share good teas. But, today it’s about my all-time favourite tea, and it’s the tea I’ve been drinking almost every day (several times a day) throughout the last 3-4 years. And that is Pickwick’s green tea with lemon. I learned many years ago that green tea was just amazingly healthy and good for you, and that it contained lots of antioxidants (and antioxidants are super good for you, because they protect your body from bad things. There are also a lot of antioxidants in berries for example). When I learned this, I had to try it out. First I just bought some plain green tea, which was to be honest really boring. But then I discovered the green tea with lemon from Pickwick. It still tasted healthy, but not boring and ‘too healthy’, and it quickly became my favourite, and, as mentioned, I’ve been drinking this almost every day throughout the last couple of years.

Benefits of drinking green tea
– the antioxidants in green tea can help prevent you from getting cancer
– it increases fat burning, and can therefore be especially good for people who want to lose weight
– it may protect your brain, and lower the risk of getting alzheimer’s
– and much, much more

My new Favourite Tea

skaermbillede-2016-11-23-kl-14-34-23

Those who know me, know that I’m a big tea-person. I don’t drink coffee, not at all. Sometimes I drink a chai latte or a caffe latte, but that is not that often. But I love, love, love tea! And I drink up to several cups a day of green tea, especially during the Winter. Tea is just so cozy to sit and warm yourself up with. Daily I drink a standard green tea, both because I like the taste and because it should be good for you. But when I’m having a cozy time or am spoiling myself, I like to drink some sweet tea with honey, mhmm!

So the other day my boyfriend and I ate at his parents house and afterwards we got a cup of tea – and I got the tea on the above picture ‘green tea with caramel’ from Tante T, and wauw! Not only did it smell amazing of caramel, but it also tasted really good. So yesterday I stopped by Tante T in Torvehallerne (in Copenhagen, right next to Nørreport Station), because I just had to get that tea. So if you are tea persons, just like me, I recommend you to try this one (but you should like the smell of caramel), because it’s wonderful.
