SEPTEMBER INTENTIONS

I wanted to start something new here on the blog, so that we could get to know each other better. So I’m gonna make a little list of monthly intentions at the beginning of each month, and tell you what some of my intention/plans are for the upcoming month. Perhaps you can find some inspiration, or if you have some lovely intentions or plans, then please share them with me and then I can get inspired as well ✨🍂

September Intentions

  • Sit on nice cafés and work on finishing the very last of my book, so that I can hopefully get it out around October/November!
  • Business-inspiration meetings with my dear new friend Zoey
  • Drink tons of tea, cuddle up under a warm blanket and spend more time reading good books!
  • Drink warm drinks (cafe lattes, chai lattes, turmeric latte, matcha latte – all things latte) with dear friends or family, perhaps in combination with continuing my current knitting project (#novicesweater)
  • Vacation on Bornholm with my man. I can’t wait to get back to lovely Bornholm, see the beautiful nature, visit lovely cafés and shops and just have a week with full relaxation together with my love <3
  • Watch Female Invest webinars with my friend, so that we can start investing soon!

LIFT YOUR MOOD BY MOVING YOUR BODY

Today I want to talk about how you can get happy by moving your body! And no, it’s not just something I say, it’s actually a chemical release happening in your body when you move it – the release of endorphins! 🙌✨


Getting happy by moving your body? What on Earth you might think?

But it’s actually true. You see, when you exercise you increase endorphins in your body. Endorphins are chemicals produced by the body to relieve stress and pain, so these actually boosts your mood and makes you feel better!

Not only can endorphins make you feel better, they also act as a pain reliever. So if you are feeling mildly anxious or depressed, using your body, moving and exercising it, can actually help you to feel better.

Use this knowledge, to change your mindset towards how you perceive exercising.

Instead of thinking to yourself “Oh no I have to go exercise to keep in shape” or whatever you might tend to think – instead choose to think “I’m going to exercise to lift my mood and feel better!“. See exercising as not only a physical service you do for yourself, but also something that can lift your mood and make you feel happier! 🙌✨

You can increase endorphins in your body through other ways as well;

  • Through giving, volunteering, donating, helping
  • Through yoga and meditation
  • Through laughing

While we’re in these strange times of isolation and quarantine, many of us might find ourselves getting bored or feeling restless. But there are plenty of things you can do, and therefore I want to share 15 things to do at home. Just for pure inspiration if you need some ✨

Tidy up & Organise your Home
Spring is here, and there’s really no better time than now to do a proper Spring Cleaning! So why not Marie-Kondo your entire home, and get rid of the things that no longer brings you joy, clean your space and rearrange your furniture’s? I’ve already started and I’m already feeling better and better for every room I get cleaned and organised.

Paint
You could paint a picture, or you can paint a wall! I just ordered some painting in a beautiful nude colour the other day and this coming week I’ll be painting one of the walls in my living room to spice up the interior a bit. I’m also thinking about painting some pictures for the wall as well.

Go for Walks (if allowed)
Depending on where you live in the world, I know that the may or may not be a possibility at the moment. For those of you who live in countries where this is still fully allowed – get out and get some fresh air, move your body and be extremely grateful for the ‘simple’ thing we used to take for granted such as going for walks outside, because this simple thing has been limited for people around the globe. I know that I’ll never take this simple act for granted ever again



Try out a new Recipe
Why not try out some delicious new recipes? It could be a lovely desert, snack or a delicious dinner recipe that you’ve been wanting to try forever but never really found the time to try out – now is the perfect time!

Read Books
Of course this has to be on the list, one of my absolute favourite activities – reading! If you need some book inspiration, then just search for ‘book’ at my blog and you’ll find tons of recommendations.



Make a Home Spa Day
We have more time at home, why not make a Home Spa day (or days?). Make a footbath, put on a facemask, dry brush your body, use your gua sha and give yourself a face massage. Make your own body butter, or put on a hair mask. Take time for yourself and take good care of yourself during these times

Write down your Dreams & Goals
If you haven’t already started to write down your dreams and goals, why not use this time to get clear with yourself – what do I really want in life? What do I dream of? Dream big, as Noell says it “The Sky Isn’t your Limit, Your Mind is!” (I absolutely love this). For this practice you can also go and download my free printable PDF files where you can write down your Year & Quarterly Goals



Write Letters to Your Friends and Family
I got a letter the other day, an actual letter from one of my best friends and it was the best thing ever! I mean, how often do we get actual letters these days? Not that often anymore. Let those around you know that you love them and think about them by writing them a letter

Tea & FaceTime
Netflix & Chill might still be a thing, but the newest trend is “Tea & FaceTime”. Make yourself a cup of tea and make a FaceTime date with your best friends, or your family members, and just sit and talk and connect and have a good time. I’ve said it so many times during this lockdown that how fortunate are we to live in a time where we need to ‘social distance’ ourselves, but we have the technology to be able to connect all the time if we want to

Start an At-Home-Workout Routine
Again, thank you technology! When we can’t go to the gym, yoga study or wherever we usually go to, we’re so lucky that there are thousands of workout videos to find on Youtube or Instagram. You can find long Yoga session videos, or 20 minutes hard-core ab workout routines. So why not get into a good routine of moving your body!

Make a Visionboard
Use this time at home to dream and make yourself a vision board! You can either make a physical one, or you can create a vision board on Pinterest. Just find pictures of how you want to feel and be, and what you want to do! Seeing your dreams in visuals is one of the best things ever, and can really life your mood!



Journal about Your Thoughts – or Talk to a Friend
I know these times can be very anxious, and I’ve for sure felt that as well. You think about the state of the world, the economy, your job situation, you and your family’s health. There’s so much to think about and it’s easy to get caught up in worry and anxiety in these times. Know that there’s absolutely nothing wrong in feeling this way, and you should allow your emotions to be there and feel them – but a good suggestion is to get your fears and worries out of your head. Write them down in a journal, or call a friend and talk about things. Often times, all the things we build up in our heads aren’t as bad, when we just get them out of there

Watch Good Movies
Relax and rest, and put on a good movie. I mean Disney or Harry Potter marathon is completely allowed, so go for it! Make yourself a cup of tea, cuddle up under your duvet and just relax and enjoy it.

Make a Puzzle
Whether you’re an adult or have kids, making puzzles is the perfect activity! It’s such a relaxing and cozy activity to spend time on

Play Games
Right alongside with playing a puzzle, if you have some games at home, then why not play those. Yatzy, Bagammon, Ludo, Uno etc.

30 DAYS GRATITUDE CHALLENGE

Practicing gratitude can give you so much. When I first learned to start paying attention to what I was grateful for in life, my whole life changed. So therefore I thought I would make a 30 days gratitude challenge. Will you join me?

I have written about the practice of gratitude so many times before both in here and on my Instagram. If you have never kept a gratitude journal before, then now is the time to jump on both with this challenge and watch your life perspective change!

What to do?

It’s really simple. All you need is a notebook and a pen, or if you prefer, you can make a note on your mobile and make your lists in there. Now every single day for the rest of this month , you shall write down AT least 5 things every single day that you are grateful for.

In the beginning it can be hard. I clearly remember when I first started doing this, I had such a hard time coming up with things. But really, you can write even the smallest things to the bigger things in life. Fx:

  • I am grateful for my breath
  • I am grateful for my home
  • I am grateful for the people I have in my life
  • I am grateful for fuelling my body with nourishing food
  • I am grateful for the kind stranger in the supermarket
  • I am grateful for the rain for giving water to the ground and the plants
  • etc.

YOU DON’T NEED TO SEE THE WHOLE STAIRCASE

“You don’t need to see the whole staircase, you just need to take the first step” – Martin Luther King Jr. If you want to live a life that truly makes you happy, go and follow those things that makes you feel excited and passionated!

Sometimes we can get so overwhelmed with getting clear on our big dreams & visions, and even though I do believe in the act of getting clear on what you want in order to get it, I also believe that at some point in our lives, when we are not entirely sure what it is that we really want, the best thing you can do is to go follow those things that excites you.

As Martin Luther King Jr said it, you don’t need to see the whole staircase, you just need to take the first step. Take actions towards what excites you!

Go to that workshop, read that book, go out in nature, reach out to that person etc. You don’t necessarily know where these things will lead you, and you don’t have to know, you just have to go and do the things that makes you happy and you follow your passion!

And by following each of these little things that excites you, you will eventually see that you’re on the exactly right path for you. If you go and do things all the time that you really don’t want to, you’ll end up seeing that you’ve been heading in the completely wrong direction. – you just need to take the next step!

A LITTLE CHRISTMAS BREAK

I’m going to take a little Christmas break from the blog, but I’ll be back again in the New Year!

The last couple of months has consisted of plenty of exams, finding a master thesis supervisor and handing in the contract for the master thesis, lots of work and finding Christmas presents, so to say the least, there has been a lot going on. I’ll therefore take a little Christmas break, and spend loots of lovely family time, reading some lovely books, watch some good movies (I’ve currently started a Harry Potter-marathon with my friend, so excited!), and just be present in this lovely Christmas time. Therefore I won’t make blogpost in here before we hit 2019.

But, sometimes it’s a good idea to unplug and recharge. This can give you new motivation, inspiration and energy. If you ever feel like you are getting tired of doing something- then try to take a little break. Most often I find that after a short period of time away from something I regain my motivation and inspiration and I am eager to start again.

So, I just want to finish this year off with saying a HUGE thank you to all of you lovely people following along! There have come so many new people along this year, and I’m beyond blessed and grateful for you all, and I’m so happy that you can find some inspiration here.

WRITE A LETTER OF GRATITUDE

Gratitude. I have written so much about this topic before, but it truly is wonderful to show and feel gratitude, for both the bigger and the smaller things in life. One of the best practices I have come across is to write a letter of gratitude.

 

When I first discovered ‘the power’ of gratitude, one of the exercises that had the biggest impressions on me and my life, was to write gratitude letters to people who have had an impact on my life. It could both be positive and negative impacts, the important thing was just to write letters to people who had taught me something important about life, and who had had an impact on my life and made me who I am.

In the beginning I wrote these letters for myself, so the people I wrote to never received these words of gratitude, but just the feeling of expressing my gratitude towards these different people had a huge impact on my life. Whether it was for being grateful for what certain people had taught me, or if it was to forgive someone for something they had done which had affected me.

I wrote letters (in my diary), to all kinds of people. To my old Danish teacher in elementary school for cheering on me to “never stop writing“, to my dancing teachers who I looked so much up to when I was younger, to people in high school who was just awesome, to my family members (mom, dad, sis etc.), to my mom’s cousins’ who treated me with so much love like I was their own daughter, to people who disappointed me or just showed me how I did personally not want to be like, to my boyfriend whom showed me true love and happiness, to all the amazing authors who have inspired me with their stories – and so many other people.

Later on I started to share more of these letters with the people I really loved. I love expressing gratitude and love in the form a personal letter, whether that be to my mom, sister, dad, boyfriend or my friends. The best thing is to see their responses, and see people get touched by my gratitude for them – there is really no better feeling in this world. I can highly recommend to share those words that you might have inside your head, with people that mean something to you. Just think about how happy and grateful you get, when someone says or writes something kind to you.

 

Try this Gratitude Practice Yourself

  • Write a letter of gratitude to 10 people who have had an impact on your life.
    Remember, you don’t have to show these letters to anyone else than yourself – but if you feel like it, I can definitely recommend sharing the letters with those you love.

GIVE COMPLIMENTS!

Don’t we all just love when people compliment us? We might not know how to handle it and get shy and embarrassed, but inside we all love when people compliment us either on what we do, what we say, how we look or something else. Just like you love getting compliments, others do as well. And here the saying “give what you want to get” is very relevant.

Think about, when was the last time you gave someone a compliment? Can you remember it? If not, then it’s definitely time to start getting into the habit of it. Not only will it lift others mood and make them happy, but it will for sure also make you happy. Just think about the joy of giving someone else a gift, and seeing how happy they get.

When I was in High School my best friends and I talked about this topic, and we challenged each other for a while to give at least 1 compliment every single day. And wow! This is just such a great practice – because not only did it light up someone else’s day, but you gain just as much yourself from seeing someone getting happy by something you did.

But, who to give compliments to, and about what?

You can literally give compliments to anyone about anything. Even the smallest things counts, and often we think about all these small things we like about others, but we simply keep them to ourselves and forget to say it out loud, even though it could make the world of a difference to someone else, and completely make their day.

“Thanks for your suggestions, they really helped me”

You see? There is no limit to whom and about what you can give compliments. And I know that it takes practice, I have to challenge myself all the time as well. Because I often think about a compliment to give someone in my head, but I sure do not always express it verbally, even though I know that this is only something that would make someone else’s day much better.

EVERYDAY HAPPINESS

It’s time to come back to some Everyday Happiness moments. I love seeing these posts at others blogs, and I really think it is such a lovely way to remember to take some pictures of the small, good things in life and be more grateful for even the smallest things <3

 

So, I want to start posting these kind of posts again, every Monday. I hope you’ll find some inspiration as well – either to do a little face mask and watch your favourite movie and relax, go and grab a cup of tea or coffee with your best friend, or go for a walk or to the movies with your family or your loved one. See this as an inspiration to sneak in some more moments in your everyday life that makes you happy – because that truly is what life is made of; the small little everyday things, so cherish these moments!

Our hallway in our apartment complex has been completely repainted and it has become so bright and pretty, I absolutely love it!

I had a Chai Masala tea with my mom and a little piece of brownie cake and just some mom-daughter-time. I love that <3

I’ve started in Fitness again! What a surprise, mainly for me. Last year I stopped in fitness because I was way too tired of fitness centres and the whole train-train-train mentality. But, lately I’ve just been feeling like really doing some energetic exercise and really get my pulse up, and sweating – so I’ve followed my body’s need and I’ve started in fitness again. And, I love it! I really feel SO good after getting a good sweat and getting a tomato-red-face. I, of course, still love yoga and stretching – and as my lovely boss says; it’s all about balance: yin & yang <3

There’s nothing better when the sun is shinning than a little walk around the lake and seeing the beautiful nature – and preferably with a good podcast in my ears!

I’ve always loved my family, but I think over the past years I’ve neglected my lovely big family a bit too much due to lots of work and school – but, I truly love my big family, and I love all the different personalities which I am so truly blessed to have in my life – and I really want to spend more time with them all <3 Here is a picture from last week where almost all the women from my mom’s side of the family had a Cinema trip. We watched ‘The Book Club’ (hilarious movie, and so sweet and loving!) and had dinner afterwards – such a great time!

MY DAILY SELF-CARE ROUTINE

If you have been following me for a while, either here on my blog or on my Instagram, then you know how highly I value self-care practices. But what kind of self-care practices do I actually practice daily? I’m going to share some of my favourite daily self-care routines with you today!

 

A little while ago I shared this blogpost about my thoughts upon why I find self-care practices so important, and some tips on different practices you could start practicing in your everyday life.

But, what self-care practices do I actually personally practice daily? That is what I want to share with you today, and hopefully you can find some inspiration to sneak in some more self-care in your daily life.

My daily self-care routine

 

*Drink a cup of warm green tea

The first thing I do in the morning, is to drink a nice cup of warm, green tea. This is one of my favourite things to do. It is so simple, yet it makes me so happy. Just ask my boyfriend how happy I finally got the other day when it was finally ‘cold enough’ again to start drinking tea in the morning (because it has been so hot during this Summer in Denmark). There is just something so soothing and relaxing about a nice cup of warm tea, and I truly love that time of my day.

 

*Wake up early

Along with a good cup of nice tea, I really like to wake up early. Not that I need to get lots of stuff done in the morning necessarily, I just really like to have a slow, relaxing morning, where I can wake up slowly and eat and enjoy my breakfast without having to hurry and run out the door. This really makes such a huge difference for my mood. When I was younger I would rather sleep in, and then stuff some breakfast down my throat and run out the door – but then my mood would not always be the best. Nowadays I always plan to wake up at least 1,5 hours before I need to go anywhere, so that I can slowly wake up and start the day on a slow, lovely and good note.

 

*Have a lovely Skincare routine

I have always loved skincare and the whole practice of cleansing the face, moisturising it, facial massages etc. So I do my best to really take some time to enjoy this little practice in the morning and evening. It doesn’t have to be a long time, just 5-10 minutes of a relaxed time with just me and myself – a time where I really feel like I do something good for my skin and it’s a lovely way to relax and calm down, especially in the evening after a long day.

*Enjoy a Green smoothie

Taking care of myself also means taking care of my body and my health, and I’ve found the easiest way to do so is to get as many greens during the day as possible. It’s not always the easiest if you have a lot to do, but then I’ve found the most delicious recipe for a green smoothie, where I can thereby sneak in lots of extra greens during my day. *Spend time with loved ones

My day ALWAYS gets better when I spend time with my loved ones. Either friends or family. And luckily enough I also live together with my boyfriend and our cat. I am such a home-buddy, and I just absolutely love spending time with them – it makes me so happy and completely filled with love.

 

*Keep a Gratitude Journal

One of the best practices, which I’ve talked about a million times in here and on Instagram, is having a gratitude journal. I cannot express how much learning to be grateful for even the smallest things in life, has changed my life completely! So I strive for writing down a couple of things every single day that I feel grateful for – and then take a little second for every thing I write down, to really deeply feel the gratitude in my heart.
