CONSISTENCY IS KEY!

If you truly want to see results in any area of your life, then I have one very important tip for you – consistency is key!

The concept of staying consistent is something I’ve encountered from many ‘self development gurus’ over the years. It might seem simple, but it can for sure be challenging, especially when you don’t feel like you’re getting anything out of it and it’s more tempting to just quit and do something else. But many times it’s just when we’re about to give up that results are coming.

It might be easier to understand if we take some examples.

Take action and stay consistent

If you want to work on losing weight, and you are training and eating healthy but you just don’t feel like you’re getting anywhere and instead you decide that it just doesn’t work and you give up and fall back into your old habits. Changing things, and especially your appearance, can for sure take time, so you need to stay consistent with the habits of eating healthy and moving your body.

Or, perhaps you want to improve your flexibility, then it won’t be enough with just practicing some yoga once every month, you need to practice it more and do it over a longer period of time.

Let’s take another example, perhaps you want to grow your business or your amount of followers on your social media sites. You put up content, but you just don’t feel like it’s getting you anywhere, so you give up and stop posting regularly.

But you need to stay consistent with posting and putting out quality content, and stay patient – because eventually people will find you, but they only want to follow along if they can rely on you and if they are sure that you’ll provide content regularly that they can follow, otherwise they’ll disappear again. I can vouch for this myself, I’ve posted on my Instagram and blog for several years now, but it wasn’t until I started posting more regularly and stayed consistent with it that several people started to follow me.

Focus on the long-term rather than the short-term

There are SO many examples out there of why staying consistent is the KEY to gaining whatever you want. This picture below is one of my favourite reminders to why you need to stay consistent and keep trying if you truly want something!

I hope that this little ‘pep-talk’ has motivated you to take action and staying consistent, and eventually you will see that things will come your way!  Whether that be losing weight, publishing a book, clearing up your skin, growing your business or whatever you dream of! Find out what steps you need to take to get there, and then keep going and stay consistent!

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION – THE HIGHEST SELF PODCAST

I’ve discovered a new podcast that I really like, and I want to share it with you today! It’s all about Ayurveda, health and self-development and it’s called “The Highest Self Podcast” – created by Sahara Rose.

Hi everyone and welcome back here in 2019!

It has been lovely with a little break off from blogging and Instagram, but now I’m back again with plenty of inspiration and I plan to post 2 blogposts every week. As always, just let me know if there is anything you want to read about.
I want to start of with a new podcast I’ve discovered, which is really good and inspirering, so let’s get right into it!

If you’re into Ayurveda or just health and self-development, then the ‘The Highest Self Podcast” by Sahara Rose is definitely a podcast I can recommend. Sahara Rose is a new upcoming leader in the Ayurvedic world and has even been named a “leading voice speaking to the millennial generation into the new paradigm shift” by Deepak Chopra himself (author of the book ‘Perfect Health‘). Sahara Rose is also the author behind the books ‘Idiot’s Guides to Ayurveda‘ and ‘Eat Right For Your Mind-Body Type Program’ , and her podcast is really great.

One of my favourite episode’s so far is the ‘How to Preserve Passion in a long-term relationship‘. That episode is really relatable for me, since I’ve been in a relationship with my boyfriend for almost 6 years, and from time to time it can get very everyday-ish, which is both really comfortable and lovely, but the lack of passion can certainly also be there. The podcast episode is a really good episode and it’s filled with so many good advice, for how to preserve passion in a long-term relationship.

Here are a few of the gold-quotes from the episode, that really resonated with me and inspired me:

“You need to communicate. Women often want men to read between the lines, but the man just see that the woman is angry, and if that continues over time without proper communication, the love and passion will disappear. We need to be brave enough to communicate, and express our wants, needs and desires

Only change that comes from yourself can last”

“When we dim our lights we are doing a disservice to others

I can for sure recommend listening to Sahara’s wise words, I’m sure you will find some inspiration from her. I’ve also just gotten her book ‘Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda‘ in Christmas present, and I cannot wait to dive into it and learn a lot more about Ayurveda, because that is truly something I find so fascinating.

MY SUMMER READING LIST

I’m always on the hunt for new exciting books to read, and if you are a bookworm, just like me, then you might be too. So I thought I would share some of the books that I plan on diving into this Summer. I might not come around all of them, or I might add some other books, but these are the ones I would for sure love to read!

When I was younger I participated in my local library’s competition where you had to read 5 books and then you could pick 1 book for free (such a nerd, but I absolutely loved it! And hey, books are just amazing!) – anyone else who did that when they were younger? Anyway, let’s get into my Summer reading list!

Sluk – Kunsten at overleve i en digital verden – Imran Rashid

(This book is in Danish). Jeg er pt. igang med denne bog omkring den digitale verden vi lever i, og om hvor styrede vores samfund er af vores smartphones. Både skræmmende, men også virkelig interessant læsning.

Waking Up in 5D – Maureen J. St. Germain

A book about how we are all transitioning from the third dimension and waking up to the higher vibrations and abilities of the 5th dimension. The book is about how to develop a Higher Self connection, increase your sensitivity to dimensional signatures and consciously choose 5D, where love is the governing force.

Sæt Livet Fri – Den revolutinerende healingteknik EFT, der styrker krop, sind og sjæl – Nick Ortner

(This book is in Danish, but can be bought in English “The Tapping Solution”).

The Food Medic For Life – Dr. Hazel Wallace

I’ve been following Hazel Wallace on Instagram for a while and have been listening to her podcast and I find her really inspirering, so when I found out she had written a book about health and filled with food recipes I had to get it. I’m looking forward to diving into this and try out some of the recipes.

Intelligente Celler – Bruce Lipton

(This book is in Danish, but can be bought in English; “The Wisdom of Your Cells”).

The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga – Bernie Clark

This book was recommended to me by my yoga-boss Cathrine. It’s an in-depth book about the philosophy and practice of Yin Yoga.

Kiss the Ground – How the food you eat can reverse climate change, heal your body & ultimately save our world – Josh Tickell

How can I not read this book simply just based on this amazing title? I heard about the book in one of Melissa Ambrosini’s podcast episodes where the Author of the book was interviewed and I immediately wrote it down on my reading list. Well, the title says most of what it is about, but more precisely it should be about the importance of our soil that we grow our food in.

Rise Sister Rise – A guide to unleashing the wise, wild woman within – Rebecca Campbell

This book is a call to arms for women yo rise up, tell their truth and lead. It is a guide to co-creating a whole new archetype for women in these awakening times – a woman who does not keep herself small in order to make others feel more comfortable, a woman who knows that she is not her body weight, her sexual partner or her career. A women who understands the true meaning of sisterhood, and that alone we are strong but together we are fierce.

Money and the Law of Attraction – Learning to attract wealth, health and happiness – Ester & Jerry Hicks

One of the leading books about the powerful Law of Attraction. I’ve already read ‘The Secret‘ which was groundbreaking for me, and I’ve understood the basic principles of the law of attraction, but this book should really go into depth with the concept, so I’m very excited to dive into this.

The Big Leap – Conquer your hidden fear and take life to the next level – Gay Hendricks

Hendricks reveals a simple yet comprehensive program for overcoming our one barrier to happiness and fulfilment, providing a clear path for achieving our true potential and attaining not only financial success but also success in love and life.

The Power of Habit – Why we do what we do in life and business – Charles Duhigg

The book dives into the scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed.  The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: the key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. By harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Linchpin – Seth Godin

This book is about you – your choices, your future, and your potential to make a huge difference in whatever field you choose. There used to be two teams in every workplace: management and labour. Now there’s a third team: the linchpins. These people figure out what to do when there’s no rule book. They delight and challenge their customers and peers. They love their work, pour their best selves into it, and turn each day into a kind of art. Linchpins are the essential building blocks of great organisations. They may not be famous but they’re indispensable. And in today’s world, they get the best jobs and the most freedom.

Have you read any of these books? And, what are you going to read this Summer? Let me know! I’m always looking for new books to add to my reading list!

3 PRACTICES THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Today I want to share with you, 3 practices that have literally changed my life! The practices are so simple, yet so life changing and amazing. And if you have never tried them before, you will have so much fun trying it out and a whole new world will open up for you.

So, let’s get into these amazing practices!

Gratitude

The first one you will most likely be familiar with if you have followed me for just a little while, and that is: showing and feeling gratitude. I first learned about this when I read the book ‘The Secret‘* (affiliate link) for the first time back in 2012 (where I magically saw the book in a bookstore in London and bought it right away – that book has impacted my life in such a positive way, I can not recommend it enough!). Here I was introduced to the concept of showing gratitude for the things you have in your life. I learned about how I was not going to be able to get ‘more’ (things, love, money etc.) in my life, if I didn’t start to appreciate and be grateful for what I already had.

In the book there is a 30 day practice where you get a new task everyday, and one of the tasks was to write down 3 things every single day that you were grateful for. I started doing this practice, and in the beginning I had such a had time thinking about things to write, because I thought it needed to be something big, but when I learned that there are SO many things to be grateful for, then my lists became longer and longer!

You can literally be grateful for everything in your life: the air you breathe, the food you eat, the water you drink, buying another a present, having a home, having a job etc. Once you start paying attention to all the wonderful things you already have in your life, an abundance of things will come to you. Like attract like, and if you are grateful and show gratitude, you will only get more to be grateful for. On the other hand, if you focus on all the things you ‘lack’ in your life, then there won’t come more good things in your life.

Ps, if you think I’m just crazy, then just try google it, and you’ll quickly find out that some of the greatest people on this planet (Oprah for example) practice and believe in this as well.

Visualising & Manifesting

Visualisation is the act of imagining something which you do not have yet, and really feeling as if you already have it. Our minds are so amazing, they can imagine things which are not there yet, and we can actually feel the joy, love or whatever we want to feel without having the things which we think will bring us this emotion. The practice of visualisation is about becoming clear about what you want in life, and for this practice you can make a list (*I will cover this in the next point), or you can make a vision board.

A vision board is where you have a blank piece of paper (or you can make it on your computer), and then you find a lot of pictures, words etc. that symbolises what you want in life, and how you want to feel. That could be people smiling, pictures of the places you want to travel to, your dream apartment, words like ‘love’, ‘happiness’ etc. – exactly what YOU want in life. Then you make a nice collage, and then you look at this collage every single day and feel how it would feel to have these things in your life. Such a simple, yet very powerful practice.

I have made several vision boards over the years, and it is amazing to look back at them and see the things which have ‘come true’, or realise that your dreams might have completely changed – then you just make a new vision board which is more in alignment with your present needs, wants and desires.

Script Writing

Script writing is almost the same as vision boards, except this is about writing the things you want in life, rather than making a visual collage. A script is where you write – in present tense – what you want.

Let me explain that. You shall not write: “I want to find the love of my life”, because then you send out a signal that it is something you are still searching for, and then you will stay in the process of searching. Instead, you need to write:
“I have found the love of my life and we tell each other every single day how much we love each other”. So, you write as if you already have it. And really feel when you write and read it.

You can change your script as often as you like. Just remember to look at it often, and read it and really feel as if you already have it.

I cannot tell you the amount of things I have written down on a piece of paper that have come true in my life – just some examples; my boyfriend, our apartment, some of my friends, winning the Danish championsship in showdance with my dancing team, travelling to lots of countries, my job etc.

Some people might say that “well, that is not because of some sort of magic that these things happened to you, that is just you who made it happen“, and that might be true – but I like to believe in everyday magic, and really – does it matter? As long as it works. And seriously, no harm can happen with these practices.

At least I know that my life has become more fun, more filled with joy, happiness, love and everyday magic after having found these practices and incorporated them into my life – and my hope with this post is that you might discover something new which can change your life for the better as well.

Have you heard about these practices before? Do you practice them yourself? Or, is it the first time you learn about them? – and in that case, is it something you want to start practicing?

INTERESTING THINGS

It’s Wednesday and time to look at some of the things I’ve found interesting lately, and wauw this week I have a bunch of inspirering videos for you! One about life and pressure and expectations, one about a plastic free supermarket, an inspirational talk by Peta Kelly and a good advice from Hannah McNeely.

If you have anything you would like to share – books, articles, videos, documentaries, music etc. then feel so very free to share them with me!

1. This little video about life and pressure was just so beautiful and so true! We all live different lives, want different things etc. and you don’t have to do something just because others are doing it. Do what makes you happy and do it when and where you want to

2. This plastic free supermarket in Amsterdam is pretty amazing, hopefully this will be the new normal within a few years!

3. This talk by Peta Kelly gave my goosebumps! So inspirering!

4. I agree so much with what Hannah is saying here!

BOOK RECOMMENDATION – EARTH IS HIRING

It’s time for another book recommendation, and this time I want to recommend you the book “Earth is Hiring”.

I recently finished the book “Earth is Hiring – the new way to live, lead, earn, give for millennial and anyone who gives a sh*t* by Peta Kelly the other day, and wauw. Amazing! If you are interested in sustainability, changing the world for the better, creative ways of working and living – then this book is for you.

It is such a down-to-Earth book which tells all about how to live a better life in alignment with new values, which is what the Earth needs to survive. It’s all about how we can create businesses and lives which makes us and Mother Nature thrive, and which doesn’t cause harm to the Planet, and in that way ensures that there will be a planet for future generations.

I don’t want to give away too much of the book, because you should read it and enjoy it. But Peta surely is one amazingly inspirering human-being and while reading the book I got so inspired, and uplifted and ensured that I can literally do and work with whatever I want – and I want that to be something positive, healthy and something which helps humans and the Earth.

Quote from the book:

“How does it get any better than this? With this question, you will invite in more of all that is good. You’ll invite in more love, more success, more abundance, and more happiness and joy. You’ll keep yourself on your super highway to alignment and in your flowing tap”

SUSTAIN YEARLY MAGAZINE – ONE WEEK LEFT!

As I’ve already written about once before in here, the sustainable lifestyle magazine Sustain Yearly is running its crowdfunding campaign at the moment and now there’s only 1 week left!

More than 400 people have backed the project so far and the 100,000 DKKR is reached – but, they still need 20,000 DKKR. So even though they are so close to reaching the goal – there is still a little way to go yet.

If you are considering buying a copy of the magazine then you should buy it now. It is an all or nothing project, since it is being run through a crowdfunding campaign. That means that they need to reach their goal (which is 120,000 DKKR before Sunday March 4th) or else all the money will just go straight back to those who have supported the project, and the magazine will not become a reality.

sustain yearly

If you are still wondering whether or not to buy the magazine, then I can tell you a little bit about what’s in it and why I think you should support it.

The magazine is made to inspire people to live a more sustainable lifestyle and it’s filled with inspirering articles, interviews, guides, recipes, beautiful pictures and so much more. If you support this project you can thereby help a sustainable lifestyle get spread out to even more people (not just in Denmark, but all around the world – because if funded, the magazine will be available in both Danish and English).

Buy your copy and support the magazine here.

Have you already got your copy? Or are you still considering it? (then just don’t wait too long)

CHALLENGING YOURSELF AND STEPPING OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

After my first skiing holiday, I got reminded again how amazing it feels to try something which might scare you and then being able to accomplish it. After the first day on ski with our ski instructor I was ready for a mental breakdown and could cry at the simple thought of having to try an even bigger challenge the next day. But, wow it feels so good when you conquer your fears and you do what you was afraid to do. It feels amazing. I could also just have said no to go on a skiing holiday with my boyfriend and his family out of fear that “I can’t do that”, but I chose to do it and tried it and I ended up learning it and actually finding it pretty funny.

I’ve had so many of these experiences in my life, and almost every time I challenge myself I get so happy when I’m out on the other side, and sometimes I might fail but then I realise that that wasn’t really that bad either – and I was so happy that I actually tried it.

To come up with another example – I’ve been asked to come and hold a speech about sustainable living together with Johanne and Emma from Sustain Daily, and my first thought was “oh no, I get so afraid when I have to speak in front a lot of people”. Just to give you an example, throughout my school years (primary school and high school) I could seriously consider not going to class just because I knew we were going to hold a presentation. I was seriously so afraid of it.

I’ve learned to live with that fear, not that it’s completely gone, but it’s gotten much, much better after having been through several oral communication courses and oral exams at my university, and now I know that the worst thing that can happen is really not that bad at all.

My best advice is, that if you never try it, you will never figure out if it is something you might actually enjoy. You might not enjoy it at all, but if you do not try it, you’ll never know and that’s a shame if it could be something that would actually end up being something you love to do.

It’s healthy to step outside your comfort zone once in a while and challenge yourself. I’m not saying; you need to become an adrenaline-junkie and go cliff diving all the time. Not at all. You know yourself best, and it might just be simple things, such as speaking in public, that really scares you – try to challenge those fears.

And just remember, that the worst that can happen, is really not that bad at all. People might laugh at you, or you might fall and hurt yourself. But so what? Everything will pass, don’t let that stop you from trying. And let me tell you, if you worry too much about what others might think of you – most people are too busy thinking about themselves, and if they laugh at you or say something not very nice to you, it’s most likely that they have an insecurity themselves.

I hope that this might inspire you a bit to go out and try those things that you’ve been wanting to try. Don’t be afraid to fail, you’ll only learn more and gain more from making mistakes and it will only benefit you. If you haven’t watched J.K. Rowling’s speech about failure, then go watch it right now – it is so good (I might be a bit biased, because I love Harry Potter and almost everything Rowling does, but I truly think this is so inspirational).

HOW TO REGAIN YOUR MOTIVATION

motivational journal

There’s nothing better than feeling inspired and motivated to do something. Whether that be eating healthy, going zero waste or exercising regularly – am I right? But, this feeling of motivation can sometimes fade after a while.

I’ve found that the best way to regain your motivation (at least for me) is to either watch some inspirering and motivating videos or documentaries, or to read a book concerning the subject you want to regain your motivation upon.

Sometimes I can start thinking “does it really matter whether if I buy my skincare products in plastic?” or something like that. When I begin to feel like this once in a while, I know that it’s time to look at the things that got me into these values in the first place.

So, then I start to watch documentaries about how the environment is being destroyed by human actions, or I choose to watch inspirering Lauren Singer and how she makes living zero waste look so easily and fashionable – and not long after, I’ve fully regained my motivation and determination to do something about whatever it is that I want to do.

You might know what your values are, but it can be so easy in a busy everyday life to get distracted and start to not care that much about certain things – and therefore, I find it so important to keep yourself reminded by watching movies, documentaries, reading books or watching youtube videos which keeps reminding you of why you chose to do what you do.

A tip for you, is to write down:

– a list of why you want to do these things

fx I will not buy products sold in plastic, because I do not want to contribute to more plastic in the world

– a list of what you can do to improve within the areas where you are clear on your values

fx I keep a list of zero waste goals, and then one by one, slowly, I try to focus on a new habit and implement it into my life

– a list of movies, documentaries, books etc. which you know will inspire you

Keep this list for those days where you need a reminder, and just watch a quick youtube video that inspires you, or watch a bunch of documentaries

What is your best way(s) to regain your motivation? And which things in life excites you the most?
