INTERESTING THINGS

It’s Wednesday and I have quiet a few interesting things for you this week, which I’m really excited about! This includes a secondhand shopping guide, a book about menstruation and women’s cycles, a new cool upcoming Danish beauty brand and an awesome innovation created to take better care of the oceans!

1. Lauren Singer’s guide to secondhand shopping. This girl is so stylish, and just makes me want to go out and buy awesome secondhand clothing right away!

2. WomanCode! I’m currently reading this book and it’s awesome (a book review will come later), but for now you can watch this interview with the Author behind the book, and learn a lot more about cycles and menstruation

3. I’m pretty excited about this upcoming Danish beauty brand called Bueno Naturals. The products are going to be based on the oils extracted from the coffee grounds from the ‘mother company’ Kaffe Bueno (a coffee company). I mean, how cool is that?

4. Seabin Project is a genius concept, just check out the videos. These bins are created to put into the oceans, or harbours, and then it will remove trash from the ocean – I absolutely love it!

Do you have you any interesting things you would like to share? Then please share them in the comment section below, I’d love to explore new things!

TRYING TO LIVE ZERO WASTE

After having gotten very inspired by Lauren Singer (and a lot of other cool zero waste people), I’ve gotten really hooked on trying to do something about producing less trash myself. We produce so much trash each and every single day, and it is hurting our planet. I want to do something about that, and to begin with I can try to reduce my plastic consumption.

I’ve already started looking into different places in Copenhagen where I can buy groceries without using plastic (fx LØS market, Torvehallerne, ASA spices) and products for the body (Isangs) – and I cannot wait to pay a visit to these stores! Besides that there are the simple everyday things which you can start to think about. Fx bringing your own reusable bag when going to buy groceries, bringing a glass jar with you when you want a smoothie, juice, tea or coffee to-go, or bring your own reusable water bottle with you to fill up. There are so many things you can do in your everyday, small things, but which matters in the long run!

I’m probably going to write a lot more posts about this, because I’m still very green to this, and I want to share (and maybe inspire) my experiences with you.

Yesterday I tried bringing my own glass jar with me to a store to get my juice in it. And I did get it in the glass, but there was too much juice and I therefore got the rest in a plastic cop. Not so successful, but at least I have learned to bring a bigger glass jar next time. Today I failed once again. I went to buy groceries and I did consciously not put my fruits and vegetables in a plastic bag, but then went I went to pay, the cashier lady putted my fruits and greens in a plastic bag. So you really have to pay attention, because there is plastic everywhere.

I hope that you are all doing wonderful! It’s been so long since I’ve made a blog post, and that is because I’m busy with exam preparations at the moment. But I have SO many ideas for blog posts, so look forward to that – and until then you can check out my Instagram where I update more often.

ZERO WASTE LIVING

As you can sense, I am not very good at staying completely away from the blog. However this will not be a very long post, but I thought that I could share some of the things, and people, who inspire me, and that you might gain some inspiration from this/them. The other day I discovered Lauren Singer, which is a girl from New York who lives by the zero-waste principal.

It’s about avoiding to throw out, or produce, any kind of trash in your everyday life. And you have to say that she is doing amazing, all the trash she has produced throughout the last 4 years can fit into a mason jar glass! Really impressive, and so cool. I don’t think I’ll be able to live as her, but I’ve already become a lot more conscious about how much I throw out and waste, and I’ll definitely try to improve in different areas. Lauren also has a youtube channel, and a blog where you can find lots of inspiration. But I wanted to share this really inspirering TED-talk she has held, with you.
