IF IT’S NOT SCHEDULED, IT’S NOT REAL

One of my big inspirations Marie Forleo, always says that “If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real“, and that’s what I want to talk about today.

If you don’t already know Marie Forleo and her youtube channel MarieTV, then you should definitely check it out! She has so much inspiring content, and has interviews with so many inspirational people (Tony Robbins, Brené Brown, Elizabeth Gilbert, Steven Pressfield etc.).

Anyways, Marie have this saying that “If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real“. And man, is that right! Yet, it’s so easy to forget.

We often have a list of all the things we want to do; workout, do meal prepping, hang out with our friends, work on that project etc. However, if you do not plan it – schedule it – find specific date and time for when to do it, it’s not real.

So in order to make your dreams and goals real, you need to sit down with yourself and plan when and where to work on your goals.

“If it’s not scheduled, it’s not real” – Marie Forleo

Let’s take an example: you want to start working out. That’s great. However, it’s also very unclear and vague. When should that be? And how?

Take your calendar out and make a commitment with yourself:
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I will go for a 25 minutes run.

Or, it could be: Every Tuesday from 9-11am I’ll work on creating content for my business.

Make it concrete. Make it actionable. Then put it into your calendar, and keep your commitments to yourself!

Question for you: What do you want to work on? Fx do you want to start working out? Do you have a specific project you want to work on? How can you break it down into actionable steps, and schedule it in your calendar?

HOW TO GET INTO PLANNING AND THE BENEFITS OF IT

Bogstaveligt talt.

There are many benefits when it comes to planning different things in your life. It can help you maintain an overview of your life, and give you more energy in your everyday life. It can also help you save time and money. And not least, it can help you go more directly and achieve your goals and dreams. The benefits of spending just a little bit time on planning your life are many. I’m already loving it! It is first something I’ve started doing the last 2 years. Before I just scribbled down some notes on what was on my mind on random papers, never something specific. But now I write down several things. On my mobile I have a little list in my notes about what I’ll be doing for the specific day, and it mainly contains simple things such as ‘stretch, take a shower, buy groceries, do homeworks’ etc. Very simple, but it makes me remember all the little things that I want to do.

Besides that I’ve also used my Productivity Planner, where I’ve planned what I wanted to do for the following week, and for each day. Soon we step into the new year, and then I’m going to start using my Atelier Aarhus calendar, which I’m looking very much forward to.

What can you plan?
You can plan almost everything. Literally everything. You can plan your day, when and how to do your homeworks, your projects, your training, your grocery shopping, your cooking etc. You can plan whatever you like. Of course you cannot plan all of your life down to the smallest detail, there also need to be some space for fun and spontaneity. But planning can help give you more energy, and in that way also give you more space for all the fun stuff and spontaneius deals.

What can you use for planning
There are various different kind of things you can use for planning your life, such as calendars, schemes, to do lists etc. And you don’t have to plan everything in your life, but below you can see some different things you can use to plan different things in your life, just as some inspiration. And you don’t need to buy any of the things, you can just take a piece of paper and make it yourself – simple as that.

What I want to become better at planning
I want to become better at planning my grocery shopping and what we shall eat. Often it just ends up with us talking about what we want to eat on the specific day, and then one of us go grocery shopping. This result in that we waste a lot of time on grocery shopping each week, and that we eat a lot of the same dishes, just because we quickly needed to come up with some idea for what to eat. Therefor I want to become better at sitting down and look at different dishes which we wish to make, and then only shop for groceries one to two times a week, instead of every other day. This can help us save both time, but also a lot of money, since we tend to buy ‘extra’ things when we go shopping.

Do you have anything you want to become better at planning? Or something you want to start planning? Or what are you already planning?
