HOW TO CREATE A BETTER HOME ENVIRONMENT

We spend many hours in our home, and why come home to a space that does not make you feel good & happy? Here are some of my tips for how to create a better home environment.

Fresh air

Fresh air is one of the best tips to get a healthier home environment. Us humans we need to breathe, and we need to let air in and out. Think of your home in the same way. If you never let air out, the air inside your home gets filtered with dust, dirt from cooking etc. Do yourself a favour and open your windows for at least a few minutes every day and get some fresh air inside. This is especially good to do in your bedroom, since a colder bedroom with fresh air is also helping you to get a better sleep.

Plants are amazing, not only are they beautiful as decorations in your home, but they also help clean the air. NASA even made a study about the most purifying plants that helps to clean the air. I’m taking full advantage of the fact that plants are cleaning the air, so I’ve decorated my entire living room with lots of plants!

Surround yourself with things that lights you up

We spend many hours in our home, so why come home and not feel happy, uplifted or calm? If you come home everyday and just feel like ‘eh’, then why not change things? Sell the things you do not like. Paint a wall. Surround yourself with things that really makes you feel happy & home, and create a home environment that you just love. We get affected by our environment, not just our friends and families, but also our home – and this is something we can do something about. So create a space that makes you feel good!

Decluttering

In connection to creating a space that makes you feel good, it’s vital to mention decluttering. Too many of us, including myself from time to time, tend to pile things together, so it can become too chaotic and overwhelming. “Messy house equals messy mind” as the quote goes. If you are ever feeling too overwhelmed, try to declutter your space. Tidy up, throw things are (or donate to charity if they are in a fine state) that you don’t need or like any more. Getting a space cleared can clear your mind as well.

VIDEOS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT A PLANT-BASED DIET

Dette er nogle af mine yndlings YouTube videoer, som I den grad har påvirket mig til, at jeg i dag spiser stort set plantebaseret hver evig eneste dag. Disse videoer, samt dokumentarer som Cowspicary, Food Choices, Forks over Knives og andre, har i den grad ændret mit liv og mit livsperspektiv. I disse videoer får man svar på så utroligt mange ting omkring det at leve plantebaseret. Både om hvor meget bedre det er for dig selv og dit helbred at spise plantebaseret, om hvor meget bedre det er for miljøet, og ikke mindst, om hvor direkte forfærdeligt det er at dyrene bliver behandlet. Hvis du er interesseret i at spise mere plantebaseret, eller, hvis du ikke er – men har mod på at se disse videoer med et åbent sind, så er jeg mere end taknemmelig. Det er så vigtigt at lære om hvad der sker i verden, og lære om hvordan dette påvirker dig og Jorden – lær, og tag derefter et valg om hvordan du vil handle, ud fra den nye viden du har.

These are some of my favourite YouTube videos which have definitely affected me to eat plant based almost every single day. These videos, along with documentaries such as Cowspiracy, Food Choices, Forks over Knives etc. have really changed my life and my life perspective. In these movies you get answer on so many things. You get to know how much better it is for you and your health to eat plants, how much better it is for the environment, and not least, how horrible it is the way the animals get treated. If you are interested in eating more plant-based, or, if you aren’t – but you have the courage to watch these videos with an open mind, I’ll be more than grateful. It’s so important to learn what is happening in the world, and how it affects you and the Earth – learn, and then make a choice based on your new knowledge.

SKIN PROBLEMS? TRY A PLANTBASED DIET

Hvis du har nogen problemer med din hud, om det så værende eksem, akne eller andet, så ville mit bedste bud på at klare det, være at prøve at spise mere plantebaseret. Spis flere planter! Broccoli, kartofler, søde kartofler, gulerødder, agurker, squash, tomater, peberfrugter, salater, bønner, quinoa, ris osv. Prøv at skær ned på mængden af fedt og forarbejdet kød, og mælkeprodukter. Hvis du mangler inspiration til hvad i alverden man kan lave af sunde opskrifter så ville jeg anbefale Annie Jaffrey’s ‘what I eat in a day’ videoer på youtube, de er super simple, sunde og lækre!

Indtaget af især mælkeprodukter, er efterhånden blevet så forbundet med hudproblemer, bare læs denne artikel.

Jeg kan også tydeligt se og mærke på min hud når jeg har spist ‘dårligt’, i og med at jeg får bumser og min hud bare ikke ser frisk ud, sammenlignet med når jeg spiser masser af sundt og nærende mad. Det er enormt fascinerende, for jeg kan huske at da jeg var mindre, læste jeg altid i forskellige blade og forskellige hudplejeprodukter, der sagde at det man spiste ikke havde den store betydning for hvordan ens hud var – det handlede om hvilke produkter man brugte. Det troede jeg fuldt og fast på, og investerede mere tid og penge i at finde de rigtige (og dyre) hudplejeprodukter, end jeg investerede tid i at lave sund og nærende mad.

Efter at jeg tilbage i 2012 læste en bog, som fik mig til at indse at mad og din huds udseende hænger sammen som pot og pande, har jeg siden da været enormt fascineret af hvor fantastisk at sund mad er, og ikke mindst, hvad du kan få ud af det! Du kan få en velfungerende krop, en sund krop, en klogere krop, en smukkere krop – så meget mere, bare ved at tage dig godt af din krop, og spise sund og nærende mad.

Jeg har efterhånden læst et hav af bøger og set et hav af dokumentarer omkring hvad man bør og ikke bør spise. Selv er jeg kommet frem til at jeg har det bedst hvis jeg spiser masser af grønt, og masser af ris, quinoa, bulgur, bønner, linser osv. Jeg får det skønt af det! Dermed ikke sagt, at dette er vejen frem for alle, men jeg synes at man bør tage sig tid til at sætte sig ind i hvad der er godt for en, og prøve sig frem. Gør det for dig selv og din krops skyld.

If you have any problems with your skin, that be eczema, acne or anything else, my best suggestion for you to handle it, would be to try to eat a more plant based diet. Eat more plants! Broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, cucumber, squash, tomatoes, peber bells, salads, beans, quinoa, rice etc. Try cutting out the amount of fat and processed meat, and dairy products. If you lack inspiration on what on earth you can eat of healthy recipes, then I’ll definitely recommend checking out Annie Jaffrey’s ‘what I eat in a day’ videos on youtube, they are super simple, healthy and delicious!

Especially the intake of dairy products, is nowadays well connected to lots of skin problems, just read this article.

I can easily see and feel on my skin if I’ve eaten ‘badly’, because I get a pimples and my skin just does not look fresh, compared to when I eat healthy and nourishing food. It’s completely fascinating to me, because I remember when I was younger and read all these different magazines and advertisements for skincare problems, where they all said that there were almost no connection between what you eat and how your skin looked – it was all about which products you used. I believed in these, of course I was a young girl who didn’t knew that brands would come up with false facts. I invested more time and money in trying to find the right (and expensive) skincare products, than I spend time on trying to lave healthy and nourishing food.

But then once in 2012 I read a book, which made me realize the connection between your food and your skin, and since then I’ve been hugely fascinated by how amazing healthy food is! By eating healthy you can get a well functioning body, a healthy body, a smarter body, a more beautiful body – and so much more, just by taking good care of your body and eat healthy and nourishing food.

Now I’ve read so many books and watched a lot of documentaries about what to eat and not do eat. I’ve come to the conclusion that by eating plenty of plants, lots of rice, quinoa, bulgur, beans, lentils etc. I feel the best! Thereby not saying that this is the right way for everyone, but I think everybody should take some time and do some research about healthy food, and found out what works for them. Do it for yourself and for your body.

GET SOME PLANTS!

Dette indlæg går simpelthen bare ud på, at informere dig om fordelene ved at have planter indenfor. Så min opfordring lyder bare på, at få anskaffet dig en masse planter og fylde dit hjem op med dem, både fordi det bare er pænt, og fordi at der faktisk er en masse fordele ved det!

– Planter renser luften inden døre og gør altså dit indemiljø renere og sundere for dig.

– De kan faktisk hjælpe med at helbrede dig hvis du er syg, en undersøgelse har vist at indlagte patienter på et hospital som fik blomster som de kunne kigge på, blev helbredt hurtigere

– De får dig til at arbejde bedre, jep flere undersøgelser har vist at det at være omgivet af planter, får folk til at være mere produktive

– Og mange flere fordele, læs selv mere om det lige her!

This post is about informing you about the benefits of having plants inside your home. So just a little suggestion that you go out and buy some plants and fill your home with it, both because it’s pretty, and because there’s a lot of benefits to them! 

Yes, you did read that right. There are benefits to having indoor plants, so just get started on filling your home with those green bastards. 

Benefits of having plants inside:

– Plants clean the air and makes your indoor space cleaner and thereby also more healthy for you

– They can actually heal you if you’re sick, a study shows that patients in a hospital who received flowers to look at, healed more quickly, than those who hadn’t 

– They make you work better, yep a study has shown that being surrounded by plants, makes people become more productive 

– And lots of other benefits, which you can read more about right here!
