EPSOM SALT FOOTBATH

Self-care is taking care of your entire self – also the things you might tend to forget about sometimes; your feet! I can recommend taking an epsom salt footbath once in a while 💕✨

Why not use the weekend taking a relaxing footbath? We often remember to take care of our face, body, hair, nails etc. but we very often tend to forget to take good care of the feet that carry us around all day. So hereby a little reminder to you – and to myself – to take good care of your feet.

A little easy recipe for a delicious footbath is to use epsom salt in it! You can also add in some good oils, fx apricot or sweet almond oil, or some calming herbs like lavender, chamomile or calendula.

Why Epsom salt?

Epsom salt is a magnesiumsulfat, which has a calming effect on your nervous system, and it makes your muscles relax. Epsom salt is also softening and moisturising for your skin, and it can help reduce swelling.

Just remember to sit for at least 15-20 minutes with your footbath, as that is what it takes before your body has absorbed the magnesium from the water.

You can take while having your feet in the bath to just sit and fully relax, drink a cup of tea, read a good book or watch a good movie.

Are you good at taking care of your feet? Or perhaps this was a reminder for you to take extra good care of them this weekend 💕✨

DO YOU TREAT YOURSELF THE WAY YOU WISH OTHERS WOULD TREAT YOU?

Do you treat yourself the way you wish others would treat you? Otherwise, now is the time to start changing that. You get what you send out, so start to treat yourself right 💕✨

I believe that we get what we send out, both when it comes to thoughts, vibes and intentions. So if you want others to treat you well, you first need to start treating yourself the way you want to be treated.

Why wait for someone else to do the little things for you?

Start to treat yourself right – do the little things for yourself.

Do you go around wishing that your man would buy you flowers?
Stop waiting, and go buy yourself some beautiful flowers that can light up your space and your mood every time you look at them.

Go book yourself a massage. Go get a facial. Go out on a nice café and treat yourself to a delicious latte or a lovely lunch.

Treat yourself.

Stop waiting for others to do things for you, and start to create your own reality and do the things that makes you happy, go to the places you want to and treat yourself 💕✨

Question for you: Are you good at treating yourself? Or is this something you want to become better at, and do more of? Then take out your calendar right now and plot in 1 thing you can do to treat yourself this week. It could be buying fresh flowers, booking a facial or going to a nice café

5 FREE THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR OWN WELL-BEING

I’m all about self-care and doing things for your own well-being. But sometimes we can think that we need to buy this expensive face mask, go to a spa or spend money in order to take care of our self. That is so far from the truth. Here are 5 free things you can do for your own well-being 💕✨

“Remember to fill your cup, because you can’t pour from an empty cup”

Let’s just dive straight into it; 5 free things you can do for your own well-being

  1. Give yourself a Face Massage
Giving yourself a face massage, or a body or foot massage is completely free. All you need is yourself. Use some oil for your face, and then put on some relaxing music, or do it while you watch a good movie. If you have a skin roller or a gua sha, you can use these tools as well to give yourself a lovely lymphatic drainage massage (search for this on youtube and you’ll find lots of demonstrations on this)
  2. Take a Foot Bath
Use whatever bath salt, epsom salt or himalaya salt you have. Blend in a few drops of oils, and then just sit and completely relax and enjoy. Read a book, watch a good movie, or give yourself a face massage in the meanwhile.
  3. Go for a Walk in Nature
This is so good for you. Yet something we can often forget to do in the midst of everyday life and to-do lists. But get outside. Breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the beauty of nature. The sound of birds singing. Just being present and grounding.

4. Do Yoga at Home
You can find so many online yoga videos online which you can use as a guide, or if you are already familiar with yoga, then just put on some relaxing music, roll out a mat and go with the flow. Move in a way that feels good for your body. Stretch it. Breathe. Feel whatever your body needs.

5. Meditate
Meditation is wonderful. It’s completely free, and you can do it everywhere. Just close your eyes. And breathe. Let go of any thoughts that might come up, just notice them and let them pass. Be present.

Question for you: What is your favourite way to take care of your own well-being? 💕✨

SELF-CARING ACTS

There are many ways to take of yourself. When we think of self-caring acts, we usually tend to think about going to a spa, or putting on a face mask. But taking good care of yourself can be done in many kind of ways 🙏✨

Taking care of yourself also means doing things in your every day life that makes your life better, makes you feel better and more at ease and peace. It means doing the things you have to do in a more loving, fun way.

Let’s take an example; you have to clean your house, instead of seeing it as a duty, and something you dread to do, change the way you look at it: see it as a time to put some of your all-time-favourite-music in your ears and dance around while you clean and tidy up, or perhaps you prefer listening to an awesome podcast? Or an audiobook?

Also think about it this way, cleaning up your house and decluttering is a self-caring act. Because when you have a space that you feel happy about, you feel better – and that is self-care.

5 Self-Caring Acts

  • Clean Your House
As just mentioned, having a clean house, and a tidy space, can be the best kind of self-care. Because when you have clutter all over in your physical environment, it can be so hard to fully relax or get ideas and inspiration. Create a space where you feel good. And look at the act of keeping it that way as a self-caring act.
  • Meal Prep
Mealprepping is such a self-caring act. Because by preparing delicious, healthy food in bigger batches, makes sure that you always have good, healthy food at hand whenever you start to feel hungry. Set aside some time each week to prepare a big batch of food which you can have for lunch or dinner for the next couple of days. This takes away daily ‘stress’ of having to find out, buy and make food, and just makes life so much easier.
  • Buy Healthy Groceries
In connection to meal prepping, the act of buying loads of healthy groceries is such a self-caring act. Set time aside during the week to load your fridge with delicious, healthy food, so you always have good options available to you at home.
  • Take Deep Belly Breaths
Take time to pause during the day and FULLY breathe. Make your stomach big, and fully breathe in fresh air, and breathe out. Often we tend to forget about the simple act of fully breathing during the day, and we just do these small shallow breaths. Just taking deep breaths is so vital for our health and all our cells in our body. Remember to take those small pauses during the day for yourself.
  • Minimise your To-Do List
Having too much on your to-do list is the easiest way to overwhelm yourself and ending up not getting anything done, or just to keep disappointing yourself by never finishing all the things you have put on the list. This is not a way of taking care of yourself. Strive for only putting 3 big things on your to-do list during the day, and then if you accomplish more things – great, celebrate and be happy about that. But try to minimise your to-do’s and you’ll start celebrating the things you actually get done, which will give you more encouragement and energy to do more things!

Question for you: What kind of self-caring acts comes to mind when you read this? Do you do something that you have never thought about as ‘self-care’ before, but which actually makes you feel so good? Share and let’s all inspire each other! ✨

MAKE YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE A SELF-LOVING PRACTICE

Why not turn something you do every day, into a loving practice? Today I want to encourage you to make your skincare routine a self-loving practice ✨

Skincare, cleansing, moisturizing, it can be a loving practice, or it can be ‘something we just need to get done’ in the evening. You choose. When you get home from work or school, why not do it right away, when you have time and aren’t too tired.

Choose to make your skincare routine a self-loving practice you have with yourself. Light a candle, make a cup of tea, put on some nice, relaxing music and spend a few minutes to really take care of yourself and your skin.

Give yourself a little facial massage while you put on oil or creme, take time to smell the lovely smells of your products. Take time to look yourself in the mirror, smile and show yourself all the love in the world. Take time just for you. SELF-CARE ON MULTIPLE LEVELS

Self-care is not just pampering yourself with a bath and a face-mask, self-care is about way more than that. There is self-care on multiple levels. It’s all about nurturing & refuelling yourself ✨

When we hear the word ‘self-care’ we often tend to think about baths, saunas, wearing a facial mask etc. All the physical stuffs we can do to take care of ourselves. While I still think that that is important, there are self-care on multiple levels, and they are all really important to pay attention to.

Taking care of yourself is not just about pampering yourself on the outside. But doing this is good, because it can also make you feel good on the inside as well. But self-care is about waaaay more than just that. Self-care is taking care of your emotional and mental state, your spiritual beliefs, your relationship to others, your work.

A definition of self-care that I just learned through my school is this; Self-care is any activity that nurtures & refuels you on a deep level.

So tune into yourself and consider these areas of your life, do you feel good in these, or is there anything you can do to take better care of yourself in a specific area?

Physical Body
– how do you feel about your body? Do you feel good? Energised? Calm?
– think about what you can do to take better care of your body; go for a walk, stretch it, drink some more water, eat some veggies
– take a bath, nourish your skin with a good oil and give yourself a face massage

Emotional & Mental State
– your emotional & mental state is SO important. How are you? Have you allowed yourself to feel the emotions coming up?
– feel free to cry if you need to
– journal about your feelings, just write whatever is on your mind
– talk to a good friend

Relationship to others
– how is your relationships? To your partner (if you have one)? To your family? To your friends?
– is there anything you want to work on? is there a relationship that no longer feels right for you? Tune into yourself, and feel. Relationships are one of the things that can really either give us SO much, or drain us

Work
– how is your work/school situation? Are you happy doing what you do? Do you feel engaged & enthusiastic about it? Or does the thought of going there drag you down? Write down your thoughts and feelings about this. You don’t have to take any action towards changing things right now if you are not happy with it, just be honest with yourself and get your thoughts out

Question for you: Which area of your life needs some self-care? Share it, or write it down in a for yourself in a journal. Then think about how you can take better care of yourself within that area of your life

7 COZY WINTER SELF-CARE PRACTICES

Winter is just around the corner, it actually snowed a little bit in Denmark the other day! That calls for lots of cozy times and self-care practices, to help with the mood and make the cold and dark Winter times a bit more enjoyable.

Here are 7 Cozy Winter Self-Care Practices

1. Drybrush your Skin

During Winter your skin tends to get a lot more dry. Something that can help with this is dry brushing your skin (preferably every day, or just before you take a shower). Dry brushing helps mildly exfoliate the skin and get rid of dead skin cells.

2. Use a Moisturising Body Butter

In coherence with dry brushing, what your skin would really love during the Winter is to get massaged into a really moisturising body butter after having taken a shower. I have a delicious and very easy recipe for a body butter right here, and you can also find a simple guide to it under ‘highlights’ on my Instagram.

3. Take a Footbath

Is there anything better than snuggling under a blanket, with a cup of tea, and a warm footbath while watching a good movie? I absolutely that I love this. Winter is the perfect time to give your feet some love, especially now that they are locked inside big boots for many months. I like to make a footbath with some epsomsalt and lemon juice.

5. Light a Candle

Winter time calls for candles. Am I right? It just creates such a cozy and comforting vibe to see candles lit inside your home.

6. Time for Tea

I can basically drink tea all year long, but Winter time especially calls for those warm drinks. Whether that be herbal teas, hot cacaos or a delicious smelling chai lattes. Pour yourself a warm drink, grab a blanket, light the candles and engage in a lovely book, your favourite movie or have a great talk with your best friends.

7. Yin Yoga

I might be a bit biased here, but Cathrine (my boss) has really showed me the wonders of Yin Yoga. Yin yoga is a very slow and deep yoga practice. You stay in each pose for 3-5 minutes, and you thereby get really deep into the stretches. It feels amazing, and it is so relaxing and it really calms you down. Yin yoga also calls for warm clothes and you usually finish off with a blanket over you in Savasana. You can either take a physical yin yoga class, or you can do it at home by fx using Yogavivo.

What are your favourite things to do during the Winter, to make life a little bit more enjoyable? Share them in the comments, and let’s inspire each other!

MY DAILY SELF-CARE ROUTINE

If you have been following me for a while, either here on my blog or on my Instagram, then you know how highly I value self-care practices. But what kind of self-care practices do I actually practice daily? I’m going to share some of my favourite daily self-care routines with you today!

A little while ago I shared this blogpost about my thoughts upon why I find self-care practices so important, and some tips on different practices you could start practicing in your everyday life.

But, what self-care practices do I actually personally practice daily? That is what I want to share with you today, and hopefully you can find some inspiration to sneak in some more self-care in your daily life.

My daily self-care routine

*Drink a cup of warm green tea

The first thing I do in the morning, is to drink a nice cup of warm, green tea. This is one of my favourite things to do. It is so simple, yet it makes me so happy. Just ask my boyfriend how happy I finally got the other day when it was finally ‘cold enough’ again to start drinking tea in the morning (because it has been so hot during this Summer in Denmark). There is just something so soothing and relaxing about a nice cup of warm tea, and I truly love that time of my day.

*Wake up early

Along with a good cup of nice tea, I really like to wake up early. Not that I need to get lots of stuff done in the morning necessarily, I just really like to have a slow, relaxing morning, where I can wake up slowly and eat and enjoy my breakfast without having to hurry and run out the door. This really makes such a huge difference for my mood. When I was younger I would rather sleep in, and then stuff some breakfast down my throat and run out the door – but then my mood would not always be the best. Nowadays I always plan to wake up at least 1,5 hours before I need to go anywhere, so that I can slowly wake up and start the day on a slow, lovely and good note.

*Have a lovely Skincare routine

I have always loved skincare and the whole practice of cleansing the face, moisturising it, facial massages etc. So I do my best to really take some time to enjoy this little practice in the morning and evening. It doesn’t have to be a long time, just 5-10 minutes of a relaxed time with just me and myself – a time where I really feel like I do something good for my skin and it’s a lovely way to relax and calm down, especially in the evening after a long day.

*Enjoy a Green smoothie

Taking care of myself also means taking care of my body and my health, and I’ve found the easiest way to do so is to get as many greens during the day as possible. It’s not always the easiest if you have a lot to do, but then I’ve found the most delicious recipe for a green smoothie, where I can thereby sneak in lots of extra greens during my day. You can find the recipe for my green smoothie right here – you have to try it!

*Spend time with loved ones

My day ALWAYS gets better when I spend time with my loved ones. Either friends or family. And luckily enough I also live together with my boyfriend and our cat. I am such a home-buddy, and I just absolutely love spending time with them – it makes me so happy and completely filled with love.

*Keep a Gratitude Journal

One of the best practices, which I’ve talked about a million times in here and on Instagram, is having a gratitude journal. I cannot express how much learning to be grateful for even the smallest things in life, has changed my life completely! So I strive for writing down a couple of things every single day that I feel grateful for – and then take a little second for every thing I write down, to really deeply feel the gratitude in my heart.

These are my personal favourite daily self-care practices. Do you also remember to take time to nurture yourself and your soul, and do what makes you happy? What are your favourite things to do? Feel very free to share them below in the comments!

MY SELF CARE TIPS AND WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT

What is self care?

Basically, in all its simplicity it means to take care of yourself. “You can’t pour from an empty cup” as the saying goes. You cannot give fully to others before you make sure that you are well and feeling good yourself. Therefore it is so important to remember yourself and listen to your own body’s needs. Do you feel completely stressed out and filled up? Have you spend time with too many people the entire day? Have you fuelled your body with good vitamins and nutrients? Have you gotten enough sleep?

If you start to really listen, your body will easily tell you what you need. And, you should learn to listen to it and then accommodate to those needs. If you’re feeling completely overwhelmed by spending too much time with others, then take some time for yourself to just relax and just be alone. Take a bath, just lay on the couch, read a good book. Whatever you need.

It is so important to take care of yourself. And even though I love to-do-lists and being productive, I also know that if I don’t take time for some self-care, then I’ll eventually end up burning out which won’t do any good at all.

Here is a quote that I love:

The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself“.

So, as the quote goes, the only person you are sure to be with for the rest of your life is yourself, so be sure to take care of yourself and be happy and content with your own company and who you are.
Next I will share some of my favourite self care tips with you and hopefully you will find some inspiration to tune in with yourself and listen to what you need and then remember to take some time just for you.

My favourite self care tips

  • take a warm bath
  • make your skincare ritual a nice part of your evening routine, really take your time and enjoy it
  • make a nice cup of hot tea, a matcha latte, chai or hot chocolate
  • go for a walk and breath in the fresh air
  • move your body
  • find a good movie or serie and just completely relax on the couch with a blanket and a cup of something good
  • take time to make some delicious food
  • journal, write out your thoughts, get them out of your head
  • dance around to your favourite music
  • spend some quality time with someone close to you, and just talk and share what’s on your heart and mind
  • learn to say ‘no’ to things which doesn’t feel like you at all
  • dry brushing and giving yourself oil massages
  • lighting candles and creating a cozy atmosphere
  • doing a little at-home-faical-massage with oil and a gua sha
