Do you want to change your life, but you keep falling back into the same old behaviours all the time? Today I’ll talk about how you can change your identity to change your behaviour ✨

I’ve read and seen more and more people talking about how changing your ‘identity’ will help you to change your behaviour.

I read about it in Tony Robbins book “Awaken the Giant Within” and I also heard this brilliant TED talk about the subject (that I will highly recommend watching). And, it really does make perfect sense!

Let’s take an example, if you are a smoker trying to quit smoking and someone comes along and ask you if you want a cigarette you can either choose to say:
Sorry, but I’m trying to quit smoking” – hereby still identifying with the identity of being a smoker.

Or, you can choose to say:
No thanks, I’m not a smoker” – hereby not identifying with being a smoker.

Which attitude do you think are more likely to resist the temptation?

Surely, the attitude that doesn’t identify with being a smoker.

The same goes if you want to live more healthy – then you can change your identity to look upon yourself as someone who is healthy. You can make the switch right away! Just think that from now on you fill up your grocery basket with lots of veggies and fruits, and you fuel yourself up with all the vitamins and minerals.

Making an identity shift can be something you do right away, but the way you think and talk about yourself needs to be in alignment with your new identity if you’re going to stick to this ‘new you’.

So think about how you identify yourself. Who are you? Who do you want to be? What kind of life do you want to live? Make the changes and live as your new identity – take actions in alignment with what your ideal self would do 🙌✨
